Dear friends of EUSCEA,
The new EUSCEA Project, 2WAYS, has already worked for one year since 1 January 2009.
This project gave a chance to EUSCEA members to add to thier festivals or special science event with increased visibility to their local/national governments and parliaments, to know more about the impact, which their festivals have on the visitors and to connect with other members and with modern science projects - all exactly according to the requirements of the European Commission!
30 EUSCEA members joined on this new road for European festivals and all other science communication events!
What is 2WAYS all about? Some more details by a click onto here.
Since it is a project for two years, the "Pairs of Partners" had the time enough to develop together new presentations and show(ed) them in their festivals.
Each EUSCEA member had the chance to participate together with another EUSCEA member from another country as a “Pair of Partners” in this new project, all supported by the European Commission.
This time, EUSCEA wanted to promote modern, up-to-date science in the field of “Life Sciences”, new science projects together with scientists to show to the European audience what modern science is all about. And we also developed a method to analyse the impact of our presentations on the audience.
The selected EUSCEA members participated in this two-years project 2WAYS, whose main parts are:
· Launch Event in Perugia, Italy, 17 May 2009
· Science presentations at the festivals or special science events of the Pairs of Partners
· Science Parliaments for our young pupils
· Impact Comparison Study
· Grand Finals at the European Parliament on 30 November and 1 December 2010
Each Pair of Partners selected one recent peer-reviewed European science project, developed together a concept for a new science presentation.
50 Partners with 30 science communication projects applied. The Jury (Science Advisory Board and the Project Management Team) discussed all proposals in detail and selected 17 projects from 30 Partners (4 Partners will organise two projects).
The Project Management Team consists for the following organisations, their representativs, each of them responsible for a different work package:
Belén Lopez, FCRI, Barcelona, ES, responsible for the work package “Scientific Quality & Call”
Dafna Efron, Bloomfield Science Museum Jerusalem, IL, responsible for the "Finals Event"
Herbert Münder, Wissenschaft im Dialog, Berlin, DE, responsible for the "Science Parliaments"
Jan Riise, Agadem AB, Göteborg, SE, responsible for "Communication"
Mikkel Bohm, Dansk Naturvidenskapsformidling, Copenhagen, DK, responsible for the "2WAYS Exchange"
Paula Havaste, Heureka, Finnish Science Centre, Vantaa, FI, responsible for the "Impact Assessment Study"
Peter Rebernik, EUSCEA General Secretary, Vienna, AT, Coordinator of 2WAYS
The LAUNCH Event for all successful Partners took place on 17 May 2009 in Perugia. All Partners were informed in all detail about the 2WAYS Project. They also received the initial copy of the "Partners' Manual", containing all relevant information. Each Partner could also present her/his project to the others.
All Partners met in the Main 2WAYS Conference (M2C) in Potsdam, Germany, with the work package leaders - on 28 April 2010 - to discuss past and future activities - but mainly the organisation and the presentations of the 2WAYS Finals in Brussels, Belgium.
