Annette SMITH; president of EUSCEA, works at the British Association for the Advancement of Science in London, UK. She is Director of Regions for the BA and looks after the Young Peoples Programme, the Regional staff and volunteers across the UK, and the UK's National Science Week. She has a first degree in Physics and subsequent degrees in Education and has been with the BA for ten years now, having previously worked in education and in industry. Annette is a member of the WONDERS Project Management Team (PMT). Annette is married and has two daughters. Her family has a house in Tuscany - and a ship on the wonderful channels in England.
Jan RIISE, vice-president of EUSCEA, is one of the founders of the International Science Festival in Göteborg, Sweden. Jan has a university degree in Urban and Regional Planning (Geography) from the Göteborg University and has been working with science communciation projects since the early 80's. First as a "liason office" at the Camber of Commerce, then through his own company Agadem AB which he founded in 1990. At the moment he is working with the Swedish Research Council and the 2008 world conference "Public Communication of Science and Technology", Göteborg university, Chalmers university of Technology and – of course – the Science Festival. Jan is also a member of the WONDERS Project Management Team (PMT). Jan is married to Maja and has a daughter Stella and a dog Nelly.
Peter REBERNIK; General Secretary of EUSCEA, coordinator of WONDERS (EUropean Science Festival 2006 and 2007), studied Electronics in Vienna, researched as an assistant professor, was president of the Association of Assistant Professors and organised the first Austrian Science Fair in 1978 in Salzburg. In Holland he worked for telephone exchanges, later heading a company selling PC systems. He became director of the Technical Museum Vienna and later of the private KunstHausWien. Since 1993, he has headed his company PHAROS for cultural & scientific projects for exhibitions and co-founded EUSCEA in 2001. His company also works as a transfer service for biomedical technology. Peter is married to Christa and they have two boys, Steve, 32, and Chris, 30.
Jordi MAS; Vice-general Secretary of EUSCEA, PhD in Biology, MBA in ESADE Business School. He has been teaching Microbiology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and has published articles on Biotechnology, Microbial Ecology and science communication. At present he is the Deputy Director of the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation where the Science and Society Department is developing projects and initiatives towards bringing closer citizens and science. Some of the activities are: Catalan Science Week, FCRI Scientist Award, Scientific Literature Award, Day of Science at the Schools, European Researchers Night, etc. Recently, the FCRI has been selected as the hosting institution to organize the Euroscience Open Forum (ESOF2008) in Barcelona. Jordi (please pronounce his name in Catalan, which sounds like the English "George" with a sound like the English "e" at the end: "dshordih") is married and has two children, a boy David, 14 and girl Eulalia 7 years old.
Herbert MÜNDER; Treasurer of EUSCEA. Herbert is married and has two boys. He and his family with two sons live in Cologne, but Herbert works at Wissenschaft-im-Dialog in Berlin.
Delphine PICAMELOT; Vice-treasurer of EUSCEA. She is the coordinator of the territorial science diffusion activities at the University Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, France. In charge of the regional organisation of the "Fête de la Science", she is also involved in exhibitions, local science festivals and in European programs. Delphine studied biology. She received her PhD with a study on energetic aspects on bird migration with the special example of storks. Delphine is married, has two daugthers, Agathe and Hélène - and gardening is one of her favourite pasttimes in her home town Reichshoffen near Strasbourg.
